Fourth of July!

Mmmm, Independence Day. As a kid this was always my favorite holiday because it's right in the middle of summer. Today we celebrated by eating homemade ice cream and playing with sparklers. It was a great ending to a good day! A lot less stressful than yesterday to say the least! I've also been exploring 8tracks.com and I found this playlist. It's pretty much the best thing ever. :) I'll leave with that. Goodnight!

I haven't blogged in half a month. I feel ashamed! :( GoLa has been INSANE! But amazing. We have received so much positive energy from these kids, it's great!  I'm going to get back into the swing of things right now. We arrived in Moreauville late Friday night and Saturday we got to go visit Big Cane! That was great except I slept the day away. I've become obsessed with the country. Again. I'll be posting a LOT of pictures soon and I'm looking forward to it.
Also, I've come out of my two-year-long-but-not-so-obvious depression!! EXCITEMENT! I can now feel happiness again and it's amazing. So that's what my picture today shows :)

So this is New Orleans :) I'm in love. All the architecture was awesome. So many colors and just great stuff. It was fantastic. I saw Jackson Square for the first time and I'm in love.

June 8

So, night VBS keeps me INSANELY busy. Yesterday we got to go to the mall and I got three new shirts from Forever 21 (my favorite store) and some PURPLE shorts to match. We also tie-dyed shirts because we're going skating today :)

WOW

So we're finally at home and settled in Jefferson (New Orleans). We're all exhausted and the past two days have been CRAZAAAAY! We were just watching the news and I have to say we're sufficiently terrified. God is with us though. I broke my toe this morning and it is killing me. It doesn't look bad though. I miss Big Cane so much already but I'm glad to have a real bed and all that. :)
I know I'm slacking but it will be easier for the next two weeks because VBS is at night!! YES! :D

You guys, it's my last night in Big Cane. I'm so sad, and super busy. I think we're going ghost hunting. I'll be sure to document it. ;)

I haven't forgotten about my blog! Today is super busy and exciting and I will have some amazing pics to post when I'm done :)

Also, the nicest people just made me a malt, but there were nuts in it so my lips are swelling up! AHHHHH

Ah, first day of VBS!

Hey there! So today was the first day of VBS for us. It. Was. AWESOME. Besides having to get up at 7:35 AM, it was all good. I'm sitting on the porch of the house in this picture. Everything in this village is stuck in time and I love it. Currently just chatting and singing Justin Timberlake with one of my best friends ever :)
 

We took a walk to a beaver dam and it was so cool! It's only about half a mile down the road. It was cute.

Parker and I are looking at wedding pictures. We're just friends, I promise. But two brothers that I go to church with recently got married and they both had really caj~ weddings! I definitely have been inspired by them. If only I was getting married. I'll show you how cute they are tomorrow. Time to go swimming now :)

Let me explain...

So first off we are staying at this house in the middle of Big Cane, Louisiana. You've probably never heard of it. There are about 50 people that live here and one church. We have been like celebrities here with everyone! It's so neat. I think everyone here has stopped by to give us food even though we already have too much. This morning our group led worship in church and that means I had to sing in front of people. It was so scary because I do NOT sing. Especially contemporary songs in a church that has been singing out of the Baptist Hymnal for a hundred years. It was so fun though. We don't have internet out here, so I have to come across the street to use internet. It's supa cute :) This picture is their front yard.

I miss my friends and my grama!! Like crazy. VBS starts tomorrow and I just can't wait. This is the last time I get to relax so I'm about to go play (more) card games with my group/family. See ya tomorrow ;)

Hi there!

Well here is my first official blog in my blog series... I don't really have a plan for it; I'm just gonna do what I do and we shall see. :)
I'm not going to make a long post telling who I am or what I like to do, because I haven't really figured that out yet myself. So I'll let my posts say a lot about me in other ways besides step-by-step facts that you don't really need to know! So here we go:

Today I leave to join GoLa, a summer-long traveling missionary team that travels all over Louisiana teaching Vacation Bible School at churches that need a little bit of extra love. I'm really excited to be a part of the Body of Christ, to be a nomad this summer, and just to not be in my hometown. It's a nice place and I'm thankful to have the things I have, but I just don't like it here. But this isn't about things I don't like. ANYWAY, I've never really traveled for more than two weeks and during GoLa I'll be gone for EIGHT WEEKS!! I am absolutely thrilled right now because it is my dream come true to live out of a suitcase for a long period of time! I know that's a weird dream but I just love traveling. :)

Last night a tornado hit my tiny village. My dad made us (my sister, my mom and me) get under the stairs in our storm closet. That was fun because it's like a little clubhouse. The wind finally died down and I thought all of our things outside would be gone this morning but it turns out there was no real tornado. [LAME]

I Skyped with my friend RD last night. That was great! We got to hang out before I'm gone which is also great. I ended up staying awake until 4:45 AM. Bad idea considering my mom woke me up at 8:25 AM. Cooooool. It's okay though. Another weird thing: I went to bed with one shirt on and woke up with a totally different shirt on. How does that happen? Who knows...

I hope to leave for Australia in a year. I am for sure leaving for California in 73 days which is exciting!! I'm driving there with my roommate/best friend and we're going to explore the Golden State and visit my cute family!
